The Historical Exposition of Museum – Presentation Collections is situated in the building of the former Markova Leatherworking Factory and presents the Museum´s most beautiful and valuable collection pieces. This exposition is unique in a form of the collection presentation within Slovakia because the collections are arranged by material groups. It presents more than 6 000 collection pieces mainly related to housing culture, ethnographic, numismatics, crafts and militaria.
This building originally housed the central administrative offices of the former Markova Leatherworking Factory, which was established in 1782. The main facade of the building is neo-Classical. Shallow stucto reliefs in four semi-circular panels of the ground-floor Windows depict the process of making leather. In 1977 the building was given over to the Mining Museum in Rožňava, which uses it as its management offices and for presentation purposes. In 1999 the Historical Exposition of Museum – Presentation Collections was opened in this building.
